“My ‘Mini Reformer’ called TYE4® has helped
me get the distance I’ve been wanting.
My handicap is falling.”

Golf & TYE4

Thoracic Rotation

This is the exercise that golf trainers give to golfers. Unfortunately 90% of golfers cannot get into this position. This is why we created the TYE4 Golf Program.

Golfers need at least 46 degrees of Thoracolumbar rotation to be able to swing fully. The Thoracic section of the spine has 12 vertebra-- each one has 3 degrees of  rotation. The lumbar has 5 vertebra and each one a has  1-2 degrees of rotation. The majority of the population does NOT have 36 degrees of thoracic rotation. Tech-influenced posture  has a negative effect on rotation.  It’s difficult to separate thoracic from lumbar rotation so we measure  the Thoracolumbar rotation. Since we can achieve 1-2 degrees for each lumbar vertebra we can add 10 degrees to the combined rotation to reach 46 degrees in total. But, the majority do not   achieve this.  Golf pros are typically above 55 degrees.

The History of Golf & Pilates

In 1998 PhysicalMind Institute offered a Golf and Pilates workshop. More research followed and, in 2005, PhysicalMind Institute published the Golf and Pilates Manual which is the “bible” for improving bodies so they can play better golf.

Golf Professionals Using TYE4

After being introduced to TYE4 & seeing how simple and easy it is to use, I believe it would be a massive benefit to golfers of all ages and abilities who don’t have time to attend a gym doing golf specific exercises. I would definitely recommend it to all my the members in the club who are looking to gain and improve strength and mobility.

I can certainly see TYE4 being a very good tool for increasing mobility in golf. The vast majority of golfers aren’t flexible enough and don’t have the range of motion required to be effective. While it may not appeal to those at the professional level, I can see it working for the majority of amateur golfers in increasing mobility with the right programme.

Increase Thoracic Rotation

Golf Pro Santiago Bauni from Argentina uses TYE4’s patented bungee system to increase thoracic rotation.
